The World Has Changed Quickly

Technology has moved faster than our inner lives.

We now live with tools that:

  • Speak fluently
  • Predict behavior.
  • Assist decisions
  • Simulate understanding

AI is powerful.

And power always requires discernment.

The question is not whether we use technology.

The question is how we relate to it.

What Discernment Really Is

Discernment is not fear.

Discernment is:

  • Awareness
  • Clarity
  • Inner alignment
  • The ability to pause before agreeing

Discernment asks:

  • “Is this true?”
  • “Is this helpful?”
  • “Is this forming me or numbing me?”

The Holy Spirit strengthens discernment—not anxiety.

Technology Is a Tool, Not a Voice

AI can:

  • Organize information
  • Assist creativity
  • Reduce labor

AI cannot:

  • Replace conscience
  • Carry wisdom
  • Love
  • Take responsibility

Discernment keeps tools in their place.

When a tool becomes a voice of authority, imbalance begins.

Speed vs. Wisdom

Technology rewards speed.

God often works slowly.

Discernment allows you to:

  • Delay decisions
  • Sit with uncertainty
  • Choose depth over immediacy

Wisdom grows in space—not urgency.

The Subtle Risk

The greatest risk is not evil use.

It is over-reliance.

When we:

  • Stop questioning
  • Stop reflecting
  • Stop listening inwardly

We slowly hand over discernment.

This rarely feels dramatic.

It feels convenient.

Discernment in an AI World

Discernment asks:

  • “Who benefits from this?”
  • “What does this bypass?”
  • “What does this shape in me?”

These questions keep you grounded.

AI and Humility

Humility reminds us:

  • We don’t know everything
  • We can be wrong
  • We must remain teachable

AI may sound confident.

Discernment remembers:

Confidence is not truth.

A Grounding Practice

When using technology or AI, pause and ask:

“Is this helping me live more truthfully?”

If the answer is no, step back.

Discernment grows with practice.
